The Story Behind the 2025 Mystics Almanac Divination
As the Summer Solstice of 2024 approached, my daughter Ember and I prepared to perform the divination for the upcoming 2025 Mystics Almanac. With the world grappling with intense political upheavals, escalating climate crises, and ongoing confl icts, we were puzzled when the Elementals card surfaced as the guiding energy for 2025. After a year defined by the Below card, with its themes of deep excavation and untangling what no longer served us, transitioning to a year governed by a card representing light, magic, and nature seemed almost paradoxical.
Amidst the significant global shifts—US elections, the resistance against rising nationalism and extremism, and the heart-wrenching situation in Gaza and Israel—it was hard to see how a seemingly light and magical card like the Elementals could guide us through such turbulent times.
Seeking further clarity, Ember and I drew a clarifying card and unveiled the Sun (card 19), symbolizing vitality and growth but also shadowed by the threats of burning and excessive heat, mirroring the intense global scenarios. Even with the recognition of these shadows—narcissism and individualism from Elementals and the scorching force from the Sun—the connection to the unfolding year's needs still felt tenuous.
However, as we continued with our annual divination—laying out the four cardinal directions spread that revealed where we came from and what to expect—we began to see a pattern. Notably, the Elementals card appeared most frequently throughout the year, a total of 22 times, each occurrence echoing a deeper spiritual and metaphysical significance.
The frequent appearance of the Elementals card reaffirms that Elemental energy is THE energy we need to understand for 2025. And the Below card, which was the altar card defining last year’s overarching energies, is what brought us here. We had to journey through the Below, the Earth, in order to connect with the Elementals.
This realization gradually illuminated the path forward. It suggested that perhaps embracing the magic of the Elementals card could be the key to healing and navigating the challenges of 2025. The theme of the Crossroads for the year suddenly resonated deeply, presenting a pivotal choice: to sink deeper into turmoil, or to rise by reconnecting with the elemental, magical essence of life for healing and renewal.
Through this process, the Universe and the spirit realm confirmed that we were indeed on the right path with our insights. Despite our initial skepticism, the Universe conspired to lend confidence that the divination was accurate, offering elemental magic and nature's resilience as a guide through the complexities of the coming year.
